Yifat Shaltiel is the founding attorney of Shaltiel Law Group. Yifat has been an attorney for over ten years and specializes in reproductive law, adoption law, and estate law. Yifat takes great pride in working with all family types domestically and internationally to build and protect their families.
Yifat works closely with her clients to draft and negotiate reproductive law contracts including surrogacy and gestational carrier agreements, co-parenting agreements, and egg donor, sperm donor, and embryo donor contracts. Yifat also analyzes health insurance plans in surrogacy arrangements, obtains birth orders, amends birth certificates, and finalizes adoptions.
A large part of family building is ensuring that your family is protected. Yifat provides counseling and drafts wills and trusts for her clients to ensure that their family is protected and that all adoption issues and assisted reproductive law issues relating to embryos or donors are properly addressed in the clients’ wills and trusts.
Prior to specializing in reproductive law, Yifat litigated high profile crimes as an Assistant District Attorney. As a litigator Yifat received special training that enables her to be an excellent judge of character and creditability, which are essential skills when screening and working with gestational carriers and donors.
Yifat’s passion to help couples and individuals build their families through assisted reproductive technology and adoption is evident in everything that she does. This is one of the reasons why Yifat founded Surrogate Steps, a surrogate mother program that specializes in matching intended parents of all family types with the right surrogate and donor to build their family.
Yifat has been featured as a reproductive law expert at various venues, including media news outlets, Cornell University, and the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York. Yifat has also published numerous articles on reproductive law and surrogacy.
