Second Parent Adoption

Published on

Second Parent Adoption, also known as co-parent adoption, is a legal process by which an individual may adopt the child of his or her life partner.

Second parent adoption allows an individual within a same-sex relationship to adopt his or her partner’s biological or adoptive child. This would guarantee the recognition of parental rights to both individuals of the same-sex couple if they travel or relocate to a state which is not friendly toward same-sex families.
