Domestic Private Placement Adoption

Published on

Domestic Private Placement Adoptions, also known as independent adoptions, are adoptions where an agency is not involved. Instead, the birth parents have direct contact with the adoptive parents or an attorney to finalize the adoption. The birth parents and the adoptive parents typically connect through family, friends, or internet forums. The birth parents and the adoptive parents may choose how much identifying information is exchanged between the parties for purposes of maintaining confidentiality. The birth parents and the adoptive parents may also choose if they would like the adoption to be open, where the birth parents will maintain some type of future contact with the child, or if no future contact will be maintained.
